Merry’s early life
Born in Oregon, I spent my childhood playing in the woods. Already interested in cooking, I spent my days making mud pies with my friends. Could those old kid-size pans and plates still be found out there under the pine trees?
As a teen, my father moved the family from the idyllic setting to another in Northern California, where I attended Aragon High School. I found a wonderful group of friends at a local church with whom I still keep in touch.
My heartstrings were pulled when my family visited Mexico, and on impulse, I moved to Mexico City to study Spanish at the University of Mexico for Foreigners. There, I found the love of my life, my now husband of forty-seven years. We had a son in Queretaro, Mexico, and when he turned, we moved back to the San Francisco Bay area.
