About the book

The Circle of Grace is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, Inspired by the loosely woven stories of my mother's life on a rural cotton farm in Texas. It is an account of three strong women—Ruth, Suzanna, and Nelly—who stand tall despite the turbulence of a changing world. Mother and Father are undeterred by their evident poverty and create an environment filled with love for family enhanced by vivid scenery and delectable meals in a small town in Texas. The stories are a beacon of hope in times of uncertainty and change.

The tale explores themes of devastation, such as the hurricane that hit the Texas coast in 1900, war and pandemic, among other catastrophes in the young woman’s world.

Circle of Grace follows three resilient women as they navigate five decades of sweeping change. The story begins with the devastating Texas flood of 1900, where we meet Ruth and Suzanna—two young girls determined to grow into vibrant women despite the shadows of poverty, natural disasters, pandemics, and wars. In part three the focus shifts to Nelly, the youngest, who finds herself adrift and searching for a place to call home.
